Paco Rabanne Circa 1960's:
I just found a vintage bag that I am looking over as we speak which may be PACO RABANNE's bag. I am taking it to be looked at, as it says Made in Italy but has no signature. It is probably inspired by his work as he resided in France and was born in Spain. Either way I love it and it is a great example of the era and this Mod 60's Futuristic style which is making a come back as we speak! Paco Rabanne's designs influenced fashion in a big way but also reflected a social and cultural moment in time. Pop culture was about examining our society, consumerism and the "American Dream". Andy Warhol and many artists addressed the famous, the brands and the "American Individual". Warhol embraced these icons in his paintings. The idea of the future and the mod which Rabanne's designs imagined was a place of hard lines, metal, shiny surfaces, alternative materials and colors. Nothing is a better description of the era and style than Barbarella, see film shot below.
This particular Futuristic bag is also interesting because I was able per the other label of the store inside find the actual boutique in Florida which sold it! They are now closed. I love it when you find a little piece of a vintage item's history. See storefront images below.
